Aid Protocol is important too since it confers a defense bonus to a teammate. You have to use full cover as much as you can! Sometimes it's better to hunker down behind a wall than trying a desperate 45% shot. Defense is extremely important at the beginning of the game. Also, people usually don't use full cover enough. If it doesn't, that's OK, you have a plan B. The thing is that you have to be prepared for it to fail. There is nothing strange to miss a 80% shot. But you have to understand how probabilities work. XCOM 2 is not as difficult as you think it is. This bias is present at all difficulty levels, aside from Legend. When an alien hits you, the next alien shot will get a -10% chance, etc. If you miss again, the next one will get a +20% chance, etc. When you miss a shot, the next one will get a +10% chance to hit (but it's not written on screen). Not that I'd be good in these games, but I've always loved them so I have decent amount of experience.Īctually there is a bias that helps you in XCOM 2. Though I have the advantage of being somewhat 'XCOM veteran'. There's just a huge difficulty spike when you pick one higher. Playing the game on easiest difficulty is quite easy though. I've failed many times and had to restart, but that's part of the fun in this game to me.Įdit: As others have said, I'd suggest checking the Workshop too for small tweaks to make it bit easier or forgiving if you are having troubles.

But when you add the pre-expansion DLC it gets really hard with it's minibosses. I'm not someone who usually deliberately plays hard games, so I can't really compare. The turn timers on most of the missions prevents the cheesing people (me included) did in the first game. I really loved the tension and even panic some of the new enemies caused me on my first playthrough, full of dangerous and fatal surprises. Yeah I'd say it's atleast harder than the earlier game.
